A powerfull Sage Durvasa (mentioned in the beginning of this book as being infamous for having a very bad temper) came to Duryodhana’s kingdom for a visit and he was pleased by the hospitality offered to him and his disciples, so he asked Duryodhana what he wished for. Duryodhana said he wished Durvasa and his disciples would visit the exiled Yudishtera and family in the jungle only after they have finished their meals. One of Durvasa’s disciple came to Draupadi after her family had their meal saying, “Sage Durvasa and 40 of us, his disciples, will come here for our meals. Get everything ready.” But Draupadi had no food in her home so she prayed to Krishna, Krishna immediately appeared at her doorsteps. Draupadi asked, “Why have you come here now?”. Krishna said, “You called me so I came.” She said, “There is a big problem. Durvasa and his 40 disciples are coming. Since we don’t have any food to give them, I don’t know what to do.” Krishna replied, “Don’t worry about that, I am hungry, give me something to eat.” She said, “Lord, I don’t have anything to eat, I prayed to you, seeking your help in providing food for Durvasa, but now you are asking me for food for yourself.” Krishna then said, “I can look after the others after you satisfy my hunger, so first give me some food.” The anguished Draupadi replied, “Lord, I don’t have anything, what can I give you.” Krishna then went to the kitchen area and found a small leaf in a bowl. He said, “You said there was nothing, but see, there is a small leaf in this bowl; that is enough for me.” Krishna ate the leaf and bleched, indicating he was full. He then said, “I am very happy! My hunger is satisfied.” Draupadi could not understand, she thought it was one of Krishna’s prank. Krishna then said, “My job is done, so I am going now.” The anquished, Draupadi replied, “You want to leave me and go. What do I do when Druvasa and his disciples come?” You have come here at a time when I have a real problem and now you are just going to leave me. What should I do?” At that time, Durvasa and his disciples just finished their bath in the river and were getting ready to go to the Pandavas’s hut. But when Krishna’s hunger was satisfied, all their hunger was also satifisfied. Even while reciting, “Aum” they were belching. They could not understand how they were full. They knew Draupadi is a chaste wife devoted to her husbands, a woman of prenance and a devotee of Krishna. Worried that they will be cursed by Draupadi because they cannot eat what she has prepared, they went to Durvasa saying, “Draupadi is no ordinary woman. By now she would have prepared all kinds of dishes. If we go there and don’t eat, we will be shamed.” Having no solutions to their problem, they decided to run away. Later Krishna came back to Draupadi asking, “You said Durvasa and his disciples were coming, so where are they?” She replied, “They have not come.” Krishna informed Bhima, “Go and find Durvasa and his disciples and bring them here. They may not be very keen to come, Bhima you will have to catch them and bring them here.” Durvasa and his disciples were finding it hard to walk because their stomachs were so full so it was not difficult to Bhima to track them down. He respectfully asked Durvasa to come to their hut but he refused and Bhima pleaded. So Durvasa and his disciples decided to run away and Bhima had to chase them. He finally gave up and went back to the hut and informed Draupadi what transpired. This is when she connected the dots and fell at the feet of Krishna, crying, “You protected me.” Krishna then said, “If you make me happy, you give happiness to everyone.” Serving god is serving everyone and serving everyone is serving god because basically everyone is god.

Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11894763853046907095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7910622781305381789.post-24133990575822778892017-02-06T01:31:13.195-08:002017-02-06T01:31:13.195-08:00Very well written!
